Grace and Peace

Grace to you and peace from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philemon 3).

Grace and peace. These two simple, yet dynamic words have been used as a Christian greeting from ancient times. And with grace and peace I greet you on behalf of the Lafayette Church of Christ. I am thankful you found our web page. Whether you are in St. Louis to see the Cardinals, the Rams, the Blues, the Zoo, one of the many museums, or you are moving to the St. Louis area, I hope you will consider these pages your invitation to connect with God’s family at Lafayette.

Whether you are searching for God or God’s family, please let us know if there are specific ways we can help. If you are looking for a church away from home with whom you can visit one Sunday, we invite you to come to one of our gatherings. If you are searching for a church home where you can settle down and experience genuine community, we invite you to join us on the journey of discipleship.

May God’s grace and peace be yours in abundance!

The Gospel in 7 Words (or less)

What is the message and meaning of the gospel? How would you describe it in seven words or less? That was the challenge presented recently to a few Christ-followers at Lafayette (I got the idea from Christian Century, you may want to check out their responses). Here are some of the responses from Lafayette –

To simply love and be loved by Him. — Lizzy Smith

Overwhelming grace and love found in Christ. – Bonnie Enix

God’s love through the life of Jesus. — Glenn Uhls

Life of Christ leading me to salvation. — Diane Weber

God still loves you and will forever. –Colin Allstun

God lives with, in, and through us. – Lourene Clark

The gospel is the DNA of Christianity. –  Kevin Fields

The Gospel=the good news. – Lindsey Keim

To follow our LORD in love and faith. — Deborah Copeland

Flawless man sent to rescue undeserving sinners. – Michalie Brown

Death, burial and resurrection of Christ. –  Deb Leahy

God’s desire for a relationship with you. – Greg Malcolm

Through Christ is our salvation! Period!! – Sue Bond

God’s truth and love personified in Christ. – Kathy Zeller

Unconditional love from Creator to His created. – Les Keim

God created. People sinned. God is recreating. – Bob Clark

God returns man to a pure state. – Dennis Enix

Jesus the Messiah, God’s son, redeems us. – Jim Zeller

Thanks to all those who took time to ponder and respond! How would you describe the message and meaning of the gospel in seven words or less? Anybody want to add to this list?

Outreach Update

Last month the women of Lafayette had a Christmas party where they brought gifts for ALIVE, a local organization that provides emergency shelter for women in abusive situations.

We received a thank you letter from ALIVE which we share to make you more aware of what they are doing. If you know someone who is living in a dangerous situation, there are contact numbers you may want to have!

Thank God for people who are helping people in our area. Thank God for opening the door for Lafayette to help care for people in our area.

You can read the letter from ALIVE here.

Cider Sunday at Lafayette

Just a reminder that our special holiday schedule remains in effect tomorrow as we celebrate Cider Sunday, a special time of fellowship and community building.

You are invited to come to the main foyer where we will enjoy muffins, pastries, and fruit along with hot cider, hot chocolate, and coffee as we feast on conversation and catch up with each other at the conclusion of the holiday season.

We will serve food and drinks from 9:00am until about 9:50am at which time we will gather in the Worship Center to join our hearts together in praise to Almighty God.

Hope to see you there!
